Classically beautiful 18th C. game, Fox & Geese!

This game is believed to originate from 14th C. Ireland, although there are other countries that claim it's origin story. The game has had several variants through history but I chose do design mine after some of the original 18th C. English boards, as they had a bit more flair and style than the earlier versions.

This is a clever little game that is all strategy and no luck. It is quite simple. The Fox can move one space per turn any direction. The Geese can move forward and sideways but not backward or diagonally. The object of the game for the Geese is to pin in the Fox till it is unable to move. The Fox's goal is to eat as many Geese as possible, eventually eating enough that they can no longer pin him in. The Fox eats the Geese by jumping over one and onto an empty space directly past.

This game was popular among the Royalty of Europe and the British Isles and eventually found it's way into Pubs and Public Houses in the American Colonies.

The gameboard measures 11.5" inches in diameter comes as shown.

A lovely, historical classic.
